Harrods heads to Lakeside, Essex

Harrods are opening a beauty store at Intu Lakeside in Essex with the aim of reaching younger consumers.

The beauty brand named ‘H Beauty’ will take over a 23,000 square foot area in the shopping centre and will be the company’s first stand alone beauty focused store. 

Lakeside has often been used a testbed for retailers, with Sports Direct opening their first store to sell luxury fashion, and M&S opening the first Lifestore which was dedicated to homeware. Harrods hopes the H beauty store will be a concept that will roll out across the country. 

The managing director of Harrods, Michael Ward, commented on the move: “The recent struggles of the three major department stores in the UK have created an opportunity for us.

“The beauty market continues to grow and we are the biggest seller of beauty in the UK from just one door, so why wouldn’t we focus on that area?”
