Interbrand CEO Jez Frampton Best Global Brands Summit 2017 New York

Interbrand’s Best Global Brands 2017 Summit in New York on Wednesday—a day-long conference and awards ceremony celebrating the just-announced world’s most valuable brands—was kicked off by Interbrand Global CEO Jez Frampton.

He set the tone for the day’s conversations with three words: people, tech and brands—and where these intersect, comes growth. “The Best Global Brands understand that brands are the platform for growth,” said Frampton.

The thread that connected the panels and conversations throughout the day: Brands need to be purposeful, data-driven, collaborative and human. Technology has brought about the age of you and more meaningful (and demanding) relations between brands and people (more than a few speakers said they try not to use the word “consumer” any more).

That means more interactive, personalized, relevant and engaging content and micro moments of interaction with a brand’s stakeholders and audiences. It’s about understanding changing demands, driven by the millennial roar that’s reverberating worldwide as the next generation takes the wheel.

Hear more from Frampton in the video below, and don’t miss his essay in this year’s Best Global Brands report.
